Our History
New Vienna Mutual Insurance Association began with neighbors helping a neighbor.
On April 14, 1863 a wedding was interrupted by fire at a local farm. As the guests rushed to help put out the fire to no avail- the farmer lost everything. One of the wedding guests took his hat, went among the crowd and took up a collection for the farmer and his family. Thus the oldest farmers mutual insurance association in the State of Iowa was started.
Those guests started what is today, New Vienna Mutual Insurance Association. Formally established on May 25, 1863 by 22 members all German Catholics and members of the St. Boniface parish in New Vienna.
Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of New Vienna Mutual Insurance Assocation is held in New Vienna, IA on the 3rd Tuesday in February each year commencing at 11:30am. If you would like more information please contact us.
